If you are looking to lose weight then eating with a low carb plan has been shown over and over again to be successful. You can eat low carb and still get all the nutrition you need from food. But, if you try a non carb diet, which would mean you have no carbohydrates what so ever, then you will have two problems.
First Problem With A Non Carb Diet
You will most likely not be able to sustain a non carb diet for very long. The problem is you just get too bored with eating the same types of foods over and over. The fact is, you can lose weight on any diet that reduces calories, like for example eating only salads. But you have probably already tried that and not had long term success because you just got too bored.
It would be the same if you cut all carbohydrates out of your diet. You can only stand eating meat, poultry, and fish by itself for so long. If you are looking for a long term lifestyle, and you should be considering this is the only way to get off of the diet-lose weight-go off diet-gain weight merry go round, then you want a plan which you can stick with.
The fact is, you can eat foods with carbs as long as they are the right type of carbs. Fiber is a carb and so when you eat a high fiber food you are actually eating carbohydrates. But the fiber is not digested in the into sugars because the structure of the fiber will not allow it. Since it is not turned into sugars, it does not cause you to gain weight. Also, fiber is very important for a healthy digestive system. One of the complaints people have when they go on a non carb diet is constipation because there is no fiber to help the waste products move out of your body.
Even one of the original low carb diet promoters, Dr. Atkins of the Atkins Diet Plan, did not recommend going completely non carb. The most restrictive phase of the diet is the induction phase. This lasts for a couple of weeks and is used to jump start your weight loss. He still recommended about 30 grams of carbs during this phase. This should be in the form of green vegetables because of their nutritional value and their fiber content.
Second Problem With A Non Carb Diet
The second problem if you try to cut out all forms of carbs for an extended length of time is the lack of many nutrients that can only come from foods that also contain carbohydrates. Without these nutrients you body will not function well for long.
You can cut out carbs for a day or two as a jump start to your diet, or as a way to get back on track if you have slipped off you eating plan, but it is not recommended that you eat non carb for very long.
What is important is to eat some non carb foods with each meal. This does two things, first it will help to slow down the digestion of any carbohydrates you do eat. This in turn will keep your blood sugar levels more constant which is very important.
Second, non carb foods will usually be high in protein which is a great appetite suppressant. If you eat protein with each meal then you are going to feel satisfied longer than if you eat a meal of carb foods.
So to recap, eating a non carb diet is not recommended but eating non carb foods with each meal is a great way to control your weight.

I lost 50 pounds in 3 months with a no carb diet but i took benifiber or a fiber supplement and a multivitamin.. I followed the dukan diet wich gradually introduces non starchy vegtables every other day..
