Hi Maria,
Yes, limiting carbohydrates can help you to control your blood sugar levels. Sugar and starchy carbohydrates are converted easily into blood sugar and will build up if you don't utilize insulin effectively. This is the heart of the problem with diabetes. So, any time you can limit foods that will increase sugar levels, the better off you will be.

Hi Tj, thanks for stopping by.

A quick answer would be if you are trying to limit the amount of carbohydrates in your diet that can cause weight gain or stop weight loss then you want to be eating things such as meats, fish, poultry, and vegetables other than potatoes. Potatoes and foods made from wheat, rice and corn contain high levels of starches. Starch is nothing more than a bunch of sugar molecules stuck together. When we eat starchy foods, these sugars are digested into the blood stream from our digestive tract. This increase in sugar can cause weight gain and play havoc with blood sugar levels of diabetics.
If you would like more information then contact me and I will answer all your questions.

I couldn't agree with you more. whenever we make a change it is important to consult with our doctor or health care provider. If you don't have a doctor then one of the best things you can do find one and develop a long term relationship. This means getting regular check ups to be sure you are progressing in the right direction.

The next step that you need to do before starting on the diet plan is to talk with your doctor or a dietitian or seek the help of a professional health expert. Be sure that you are taking in the right nutrients during the entire dieting period. Only if you get a green signal for your diet plan here from the doctors, should you proceed with your plan. Do not follow diet plans on your own as it is very risky and you may irrevocably destroy the body that you now have.

Thank you for sharing your insights Rosalee. I know what you mean about the hunger pangs. They just seem to go away if I'm not eating a lot of carbs. A no carb breakfast starts me off great, I have more energy and great mood control.

I'd like to answer Jessica, from June 10.
From my experience, to avoid acidifying the blood and leeching calcium, the no carb diet should be high in fat.
In the presence of carbs, fat is a dangerous thing. Without carbs for an extended time, eating fatty foods and egg yolks at will, cholesterol levels go down. Blood pressure goes down.
Avoiding fat while no carb dieting would be a dangerous thing to do to one's liver.
WE have been taught that fat is the enemy, but this is true only in the presence of carbs.
From my personal experience.
