No Carb Food For Dieting

Why are no carb foods good for dieting and why should you care? Well, if you are on a healthy weight loss path you are going to want to find the foods that you can eat while still helping you to shed those unwanted pounds. There is more and more research becoming available showing that food high carbohydrate has a big effect on some people. Some doctors are even suggesting that people are allergic to the high carb diets we general consume in the US and Europe.

If this is true then it makes sense for these people to build their daily diet around foods with no carbs. A diet based on no carbohydrate foods is one that focuses on protein and strictly limits grains, breads, pasta, sugar, and fruits. There really aren’t any no carb fruit because by definition fruits hold sugar in their pulp. For the plant this is important to help the seed grow. The sugars give the seeds energy as they sprout and take root in the soil. As you limit your diet you will want to be especially wary of simple carb foods.

Simple carbs are ones that your body can break down easily. Simple carbohydrates are like gas on a fire. They are easily converted in your digestive track to blood sugar and they can really spike it out of control. Complex carbohydrates, by comparison, are harder for your body to digest. In fact, your digestive system actually has to use up some of the energy stored in your body to digest these foods if you are limiting the amount of calories you consume along with the grams of carbohydrates. No carb food on the other hand gives your body fuel in a controlled manner that you can deal with.

Simple carb food would be things like sugar and white bread. These are very easily digested in your stomach and intestines and they quickly pass into the blood stream. These will give you a massive blood sugar spike because you do not have do hardly any digesting of these foods to get the sugar. When you eat simple carb foods it is like throwing gasoline on the fire. You can think of the sugar as flashing into energy and your body not being able to utilize all that energy because it overwhelms the ability of your pancreas to create the insulin needed to deal with the spike in blood sugar. These simple carb foods can definitely be considered bad carb food. Foods high carbs are almost like poison when you are on a low carb diet and trying to control the amount of blood sugar you develop or if you are trying to lose weight by limiting carbohydrates.

So what should be on your no carb shopping list and what no carb products should you buy? We have talked a little about what not to consume. Stay away from starches and sugar. You will be limiting the amount of bread you eat and corn products. In this day and age that is hard to do with all the prepackaged foods we buy. You need to get in the habit of turning over the package and looking at the nutritional information on the back to determine the carb load or how many grams of carbohydrates there are in the food. Many prepared foods we buy have a lot of added grains and sugar. The nutritional panel will tell you how many grams there are in each serving. Sometime you will be surprised because the food manufacturers are really good at hiding them.

If you read the ingredients you want to be extremely carful of high fructose corn syrup. This is a recent invention of the big food giants. They have learned how to take corn syrup, which is already high in carbs, and tweak it’s molecular structure to make it an even higher carb food. Thanks guys! So now not only do we need to be careful of regular corn syrup we also have this high octane corn syrup that will spike blood sugar even faster.

So what foods can you eat? Most no carb foods are animal products and oils. If you are limiting carbs you can eat basically as much meat as you want. Meat like beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and fish is usually zero carb foods or very close to zero carb. Some shell fish will have carbohydrates like oysters but meats are safe. A no carb diet can get boring if you do not learn some tricks to make new dishes and snacks. With a little imagination is is amazing what you can develop as a healthy meal.

Our westen diet is killing our population and usually it is not your fault. The major food giants have done a great job of using advertising to make us believe these unhealthy foods are actually good for us.
